Unruly studios

Time: 4 years

Unruly studios builds playful tools to teach programming to kids through physical activity. I joined in the company’s pre-seed stages to conduct design research and develop the pedagogical and design foundations of our first product. I've worked in various roles since. Most recently I prototyped and designed VUI interactions that integrate Amazon’s Alexa with our hardware while part of the incubator, Techstars.

In the past my work has included traveling across the country to investor presentations, putting together last minute prototypes, developing curriculum for classrooms, talking to teachers at conferences, branding development, and a host of other hats.

In 2016 I co-authored a paper validating the efficacy of our design, published at Constructionism 2016.

Below is an example of some communication and graphic design work I’ve done with Unruly. These pages are an introduction to teachers before they use our product in their classrooms. Following these pages are some super playful and hands on lessons, but sadly I can’t share those with you.
